Establishing our Alumni Network

Updated: Feb 11, 2021

The year 2020 was largely characterised by the COVID-19 pandemic which continues to grip the global community. However, we prefer to remember the year for something that gave rise to something positive. That something was the establishment of our very own Sports Skills for Life Skills Alumni Network.

It didn't take long for a small group of interested individuals in our SS4LS Alumni WhatsApp group to put their hands up and volunteer their time towards this. We initially established what was called the SS4LS Alumni Working group in April 2020, solely to workshop and brainstorm the framework that has now become our Alumni network. The sessions were structured and focused on ensuring that we remained true to the core values that underpinned the main program that we owe our collective success to.

Over a period of fourteen, two-hour meetings every two weeks during a long lockdown we established what is now known as our Alumni Network charter. We needed something that would empower elected officials to the network with the necessary privileges or functions to make decisions, establish base level capability and serve an alumni who are ready for a network such as this.

The presentation below summarises our vision, mission and objectives (full charter available on request to official Alumni only).
